Sulgrave Manor, a stunning Tudor house built in the mid-1500s by Lawrence Washington (George Washington’s five time’s great grandfather!) was perfect for our spring editorial shoot. We took inspiration from this historic location; its rustic stone walls, vast wooden doors and spectacular grounds. Looking up above the main entrance to the Manor you can even find the Washington family’s own coat of arms carved in stone – the ‘mullets and bars’ resembling ‘stars and stripes’, believed to have influenced the design of the American flag. How’s that for a history lesson! The building oozes so much history and charm that it’s easy to see why couples would choose to have Sulgrave Manor as their wedding venue.
Sulgrave Manor’s gardens was the the perfect backdrop for the shoot. With a beautiful orchard, a rose garden dating back to the late 15 century and even a herb garden full of culinary and medicinal delights, we were spoilt for choice. Bare Blooms did an amazing job creating a wild bouquet. Taking inspiration from the surroundings, our florist Chloe chose flowers that would typically be found in the Manors gardens; Hellebores, Ranunculus and Fritillaria just to name a few. There are so many beautiful blooms available this time of the year for couples so we wanted to showcase what this beautiful season has to offer! Opting for yellows, soft peaches and deep purples, Adelle’s bouquet looked like it had just burst into bloom after a long, lazy winter.
Our amazing, real couple Adelle and Phil tied the knot just five months previous at the Manor. Despite the chill in the air, Phil couldn’t take his eyes off his bride. Adelle’s beautiful long lines showcased one of Enzoani new designs perfectly. It’s ultra-romantic style with delicate spaghetti straps, crystal stones, attention-grabbing low back and intricate lace detail. This dress is something rather special!
